About TrumpExcel

Hi, I’m Sumit Bansal. I teach Excel.

I started TrumpExcel in 2013 because I kept finding Excel tricks at work and figured other people could use them too.

Today it’s a library of free Excel tutorials and videos. Millions of people use the site and the YouTube channel to learn Excel, which still surprises me.

If you love spreadsheets, or you’re just trying to get through them at work, there’s a lot here for you.

My Story

How a spreadsheet habit turned into a full-time job

Before 2013

Excel found me at work

I started my career as a financial analyst. Excel was most of my day, every day.

It didn’t take long to notice that knowing the right formula or shortcut was the difference between finishing on time and staying late. So I kept digging, and the more I learned, the more I realized how much Excel can actually do.

2013

TrumpExcel started as a side project

Every time I figured something out, I’d write a tutorial or record a video about it.

My logic was simple. If it saved me time, it would probably save someone else time too. That was the whole plan.

Today

It’s what I do full-time

I now work on TrumpExcel full-time. My days go into making tutorials and videos, and testing different ways to explain something until one of them clicks.

After 15+ years of teaching Excel, I still learn something new most weeks.

Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award MVP

Microsoft named me an Excel MVP. Thirteen times.

Microsoft gives the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) award to people who share what they know and help others learn. I’ve received it 13 times.

It’s a big honor, and it makes all those late nights spent untangling array formulas and VBA macros feel a little more reasonable.

Fair warning. I get a lot of emails, so it usually takes me a week or two to reply. I do read all of them and help where I can.
